AnimeChicago is packing the house for the the premiere of The Tale of the Princess Kaguya at the Siskel Film Center. We will be attending the 7:45pm screening on December 5th. So far, the film has a 100% critic rating from nearly 50 reviewers according to Rotten Tomatoes.
Help Chicago’s anime fans out! The Chicago release was pushed back a whole month for reasons unknown. Historically, a few films passed us up or went without any reasonable promotional period and thus, they had low attendance or were relegated to midnight screenings only. We’re hoping to change this. Invite your friends, family, and other anime fans to this same screening. Let’s make a big deal out of this to demonstrate Chicagoans want anime screened in theaters. Let’s pack the house!
If you’d like to learn more about how Princess Kaguya was produced and about its creator, Isao Takahata, this film is also the subject of our December Round Table.
