Announcing – Fright Parade: Creatures of Ukiyo-e that Lurk in Anime and Manga

AnimeChicago has always been focused on providing its members, and the community at whole, opportunities to discuss anime and Japanese pop culture on an academic level. It was the reason we’ve run two successful symposia in the past few years.

Now, we’ve partnered with The Japanese Culture Center and Floating World Gallery Ltd. to bring all of you another chance to look deeper at the pop culture you know and love. The event is called Fright Parade: Creatures of Ukiyo-e that Lurk in Anime and Manga:

In the land of the rising sun deep shadows are cast and ghouls, ghosts & demons abound. Come and learn more about what makes those things that go bump in the night that has haunted the imaginations of your favorite Ukiyo-e, Manga and Anime artists. Please join us for Fright Parade: Creatures of Ukiyo-e that Lurk in Anime and Manga. Our evening will explore the history and enduring impact of yokai, other worldly creatures, with three short talks given by Elias Martin, Director of Floating World Gallery, Neil Clingerman, Anime Chicago, Derrick Tarrance, Lead Designer/Illustrator of Waking Oni and an audience Q&A.

When: October 12, 2017 7:00pm-9:00pm
Where: Floating World Gallery, 1925 North Halsted Street, Event Space, Chicago, IL 60614
Ticket Price: $5

We’d be happy to have you out for the event. We’ve got some great speakers lined up, ready to share their knowledge.
