Announcing – Submissions open for Osamu Tezuka Symposium Zine

We’re hosting our inaugural Symposium on Saturday, November 21st, celebrating the work of Osamu Tezuka. Check out event details here »

Each attendee will receive one limited-edition risograph zine as a momento. The zine is partly an event program containing factual information on Tezuka’s life, his influences, the bios of our Guests of Honor, sponsor information, and a lot of general content. But we really want to make this something special. That’s where you come in.

If you’d like to contribute a design, illustration, comic, or even a haiku to the zine, we’d love to include it! AnimeChicago is excited to promote local talent and dedicated to honoring Japanese culture. We’re extremely grateful for any quality contributions you wish to submit.

Requirements

  • Content must relate to Tezuka’s work in some fashion.
  • Dimensions are 5.5” wide by 8.5” tall.
  • Standard white copy paper with a creme cover.
  • Available colors: one color of either black, purple, or red.
  • We can print two colors on individual spreads if the additional production time is justified. Please consult with us if you wish to create a two-color print.
  • Given the quality of the paper and the nature of risograph, small details may not reproduce cleanly. This particular machine’s alignment is a little less accurate, so please design accordingly.

Submissions due Nov 15!

Send us a downloadable cloud link to your production-ready PDF by Sunday, November 15th using this contact form. There’s one additional day to prep final files. We print on Tuesday, November 17th.

  • First Page: Final design as it should appear in print
  • Last Page: Your name, title of work, portfolio or store link, Twitter handle
  • File Name: TezukaZine-YourName.pdf

What to Expect

You’ll receive full credit for your work, acknowledgement in our recap article, your own copy of the zine (pick-up preferred; shipping extra), and vending space at the event should you produce your own prints or products from this work. Please let us know how we can accommodate you.

We would greatly appreciate sharing this information other interested parties, and we look forward to seeing your submissions! Thank you a million for your time, effort, and contributions to Chicago’s anime community.
