KiChiGi: First Meeting
The first event for the newly-established anime/manga girl circle, Ki Chi Dotto Gi, will take place on Friday, September 11th. Group organizer Ayumi will be giving lessons on naughty Japanese slang, manga culture and luck-astrology. The location will be available to all female applicants 17 years and older who register through the Facebook group, or by alternative means at the website. This circle looks like an excellent way for Chicago women to discuss, learn, and make new friends!
Just FYI, that this is more of a “art project” than and actual anime/manga group.
A circle is about creating a doujin, from what I understand about the definition of “circle” in Japanese culture. I understand this, and can understand why it wasn’t presented that way in it’s original concept, because you don’t openly talk about creating doujin because of it’s possible negative connotation. I respect doujin as an art form, and I know not all of it is porn and smut, however there are narrow minded people out there.
I don’t have an issue with any of this, it’s just not been presented clearly to people who do not fully understand what exactly a circle is. I seriously feel that if it was said this was a doujin art project, no one would have had any confusion. There were just cultural concepts that needed to be expanded upon so that people whom are not familiar with Japanese culture circles could “get it”.
how fun is kichigi.com
Well if you’re a girl and enjoy being silly and having serious discussions with other girls, it’s fun. There’s been some interesting moments and connections.
Membership is limited to women only, and new memberships are closed right now, if that helps.
